Tidal Static

2026 · WebGL, projection · 4 × 3 m · Edition of 1

A projection of a shader that never repeats. Sea data from the Baltic drives the distortion; the colours come from warning lights on the coast.

Magenta and violet bands ripple across a black field like interference on a screen.

Every hour the piece reads wave height and wind from a buoy off Warnemünde. Calm water slows the bands to a breath; a storm tears them into static. Visitors see the sea they cannot see.

The piece runs in a browser; the projector is the only hardware.
